WAC Men's Soccer Tournament: GCU and SJSU Advance, UVU to Face GCU in First Round

Grand Canyon University (GCU) and San Jose State University (SJSU) secured their spots in the semifinals of the 2025 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament after a hard-fought victory and a draw, respectively. GCU, ranked No. 3, defeated Utah Valley 1-0 with a goal from Alan Hermitte, earning their first postseason win under coach Kiefer. SJSU, ranked No. 4, advanced after a 1-1 draw with San Jose State, securing their spot in the semifinals. Utah Valley, the No. 6 seed, will open the tournament against GCU on Sunday at Lancer Soccer Field, with the match scheduled for 5 p.m. MT and streamed live on ESPN+. UVU qualified for their seventh consecutive WAC Tournament after a 2-2 draw against Utah Tech and some help from GCU’s win. UVU’s key players include Isaac Emojong, who scored his sixth goal of the season, and Noah Pogue, who scored the fastest goal of the season. UVU’s defense, led by Kolby Sessions, boasts the best goals-against average in the conference. GCU’s victory was highlighted by a goal from Alan Hermitte, assisted by Charles Volcy, in the 48th minute. GCU, with a record of 11-3-4, aims to continue their successful postseason run, while UVU, with an 8-4-3 record, looks to advance past the first round for the first time since 2019. The tournament continues with upcoming matches, including UVU’s potential semifinal against Utah Tech.
