Saudi Jeddah Tower Nears Record Height, Surpasses 80 Floors in Construction Milestone
Saudi Arabia's Jeddah Tower, poised to become the world's tallest skyscraper, has surpassed 80 floors in its ongoing construction, marking a significant milestone. The tower, designed to exceed 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) with approximately 130 floors, is part of Saudi Arabia's broader economic diversification efforts. The project, which resumed after delays since 2018, features advanced engineering solutions, including a sophisticated elevator system with 59 elevators, and aims to incorporate luxury hotels, offices, apartments, and the world's highest observation deck. Structural design services are provided by Thornton Tomasetti in collaboration with Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The tower's completion is expected by 2028, with plans for other record-breaking towers in Jeddah and Riyadh, including the Rise Tower, which aims to reach 2 kilometers in height. The milestone reflects renewed momentum and innovation in high-rise construction, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's ambition to redefine global skyscraper standards.
