Killeen ISD Continues Search for New Superintendent with Community Input and Timeline Update

Killeen Independent School District (KISD) is actively searching for a new superintendent following the resignation of Dr. Jo Ann Fey last summer. The firm Thompson & Horton, led by Mike Moses and David Thompson, is assisting with the recruitment process. They have sent out approximately 45-50 invitations primarily to sitting superintendents and are gathering community input through focus groups and online surveys to ensure the new leader aligns with district and community needs. The application deadline is October 17, with the first round of interviews scheduled for late October, a final candidate to be announced by November 17, and the new superintendent expected to start in early January. The firm is charging $24,000 for their services, which include broad outreach across Texas school districts. The district aims to make a well-informed decision to select the best candidate to lead KISD into the future.
