LA28 Launches Volunteer Program for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics
LA28, the organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, has launched a comprehensive volunteer program to involve local residents and communities. The initiative aims to harness the spirit of volunteerism well before the Games begin, with opportunities available both in the community and during the event itself. Interested individuals can register online now to express interest in volunteering before, during, or both phases of the Games. Applications for community volunteering will start this fall, while volunteer roles during the Olympics are expected to open in summer 2026. The program seeks between 50,000 to 70,000 volunteers, making it the largest in Olympic history, to staff venues, assist athletes, guide visitors, and support operations across Los Angeles, Long Beach, Inglewood, and other municipalities. The volunteer efforts are part of LA28’s broader legacy plans, including partnerships with local organizations like Shine LA and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The initiative also includes community events such as food bank shifts and youth sports support, aiming to foster community unity and city resilience. CEO Reynold Hoover emphasized that the program is a model for future host cities and a lasting legacy for Los Angeles, with opportunities to participate in community service before the Games, potentially increasing applicants' chances of selection.
