Pawan Kalyan’s 'OG' Box Office Potential Amid 'A' Restrictions and Violence Concerns
The Telugu film 'They Call Him OG,' starring Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi, is generating significant attention ahead of its release on September 25. The film has already achieved nearly ₹75 crore in advance bookings worldwide, with ₹45 crore from India and ₹30 crore overseas, making it possibly his biggest opener to date. Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Entertainment, 'OG' is a gangster drama featuring Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a character who comes out of retirement to confront a crime boss. The film has received an 'A' certificate from the CBFC after nearly ten minutes of violent scenes, including graphic visuals of amputations and murder, which were deleted. This adult-only rating and the violent content have raised concerns about its appeal among fans, especially considering Pawan Kalyan's mass hero image. The film's opening is projected to reach around ₹150 crore worldwide, close to the lifetime collections of his previous hit 'Bheemla Nayak.' The film's success will depend on audience acceptance of its violent content and how well it performs at the box office despite the restrictions.
