Two Spectators Die from Cardiac Arrests at ATP Finals in Turin
Two elderly spectators, aged 70 and 78, died following medical emergencies during the ATP Tour Finals in Turin. The incidents occurred at different times inside the Inalpi Arena and outside in the fan village. Despite immediate medical response and transfer to hospital, both individuals passed away. The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) and ATP expressed their deepest condolences. The first incident involved a 78-year-old man who fell ill in the stands before a match between Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti, and was taken to Molinette hospital where he later died. The second was a 70-year-old man overcome by illness at the fan village, also resulting in his death after hospital transfer. The tournament, held since 2021 and scheduled to remain in Turin through 2026, continues despite the tragedy. The event is offering a record £12 million in prize money and is attended by large crowds, with the incidents prompting a review of medical preparedness.
