Terence Crawford Jr., the son of legendary boxer Terence Crawford, won his first Nebraska high school state wrestling championship as a freshman at Omaha North High School. He secured the Class A 106-pound title with a decisive 13-1 victory over Riley Pedersen of Grand Island in the finals at the CHI Health Center in Omaha. Crawford Jr. finished the tournament with a 4-0 record, including two pins and a technical fall, ending his first high school season with a 36-6 overall record. His father, Terence Crawford, a retired undefeated boxing champion with a 42-0 record, was in attendance, visibly emotional and proud during the event. Crawford Jr. had previously finished third at the Omaha Metro Conference tournament earlier this year. The elder Crawford, who recently announced his retirement after a storied boxing career, grew up training in wrestling in Omaha and started at C.W. Boxing Club in North Omaha.
