Major Construction Milestone for World's Tallest Building and Cincinnati's Skyline Update

The world's tallest building, the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, has reached a significant construction milestone. Planned to be the first 1-kilometer-tall building, it will stand approximately 3,281 feet tall, surpassing the current tallest, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, by 590 feet. Designed by Adrian Smith of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the tower's construction resumed in early 2025 after pausing in 2018 due to political and pandemic-related issues. Over 80 floors have been built, with the project expected to be completed by 2028. The tower will feature a luxury hotel, offices, residences, and the world’s highest observatory, supported by a sophisticated elevator system with 59 elevators. Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, the skyline is set for a new development with the upcoming construction of a 21-story convention hotel, marking the first major high-rise in years. The tallest building in downtown Cincinnati remains the Great American Tower at Queen City Square, standing at 667 feet. Other notable buildings include the Carew Tower (574 feet), PNC Tower (495 feet), Scripps Center (468 feet), and Fifth Third Center (423 feet). The Carew Tower is slated for a $162 million transformation into apartments and commercial space, while the PNC Tower is converting into luxury apartments. The new convention hotel, at 264 feet, will not rank among the top 10 tallest buildings but will be taller than surrounding structures.
